Caffeine-Free Peach Tea: 3 Blends for August

When you think of peach tea, does your mind automatically go to a Black Tea Southern Peach? Most probably do, considering Black Tea is the most popular. However, a not-so-popular side effect of Black Tea, when consumed at the wrong time, is sleep disruption. All true teas have caffeine, and while some may find it worth the risk, others are looking for a peach tea alternative, one without the caffeine.

Luckily, Fusion Teas has a few delicious peach herbal options, including our popular Peach Infusion Hibiscus Fruit Tea, Peach & Kiwi Hibiscus Fruit Tea, and Peach Apricot Green Honeybush. Two are hibiscus blends, and one is a green honeybush cousin of rooibos. Each of these teas can be enjoyed hot or cold by the entire family, no matter the time of day.

When you are in the mood for an iced cold peach tea in the middle of the hot afternoon, but you don’t want to be tossing at turning at night for lack of sleep, these three herbal blends will be your best friend in a cup.

Three Caffeine-Free Peach Teas for August

Peach Infusion Hibiscus Fruit Tea loose leaf blend

Peach Infusion Hibiscus Fruit Tea

The full fruit basket. Elderberries and hibiscus blossoms carry the base, with apple, papaya, currants, rose hips, blueberries, strawberries and cornflower blossoms filling in around them. Peach comes forward first and mellows the tartness of the hibiscus and berries, apple runs underneath it with a creamy note, and the finish reads like a summer orchard. This is the one for the person who wants the biggest glass on the table, and it is our most forgiving late-night pour.

Peaches & Kiwi Hibiscus Fruit Tea

The loud one. Apples, pineapple cubes, hibiscus, kiwi and peach pieces, and it brews a hot pink cup with pops of bright green still visible in the dry leaf. Tropical, electric, peach: the kiwi adds a sour-candy edge that the hibiscus sharpens instead of softening. It is bold and tart rather than round and sweet, which is exactly why it drinks so well in the heat, and it is the blend kids reach for as fast as adults do.

“This is a great refreshing tea for a hot day. It doesn’t taste ‘peach flavored’ it tastes like real peaches, the kiwi gives it that extra something special. I will buy this tea over and over!” Bianca W.

Peach Apricot Green Honeybush

The quiet one, and the only one here with no hibiscus in it. Green honeybush brings a woodsy, naturally sweet base, apricot layers on a nectar-like sweetness, and peach keeps the whole thing juicy. Pineapple pieces, orange peel and papaya cubes round out the blend. There is no tartness to push against, so it lands sweet and soft, which makes it the pick for anyone who has tried a hibiscus fruit tea and found it too sharp.

Why These Belong in an August Pitcher

August is when the drinking gets constant. You are refilling a glass every hour, and with a caffeinated tea that is the point where you start rationing. These three take the ceiling off. There is no reason the same pitcher cannot cover the porch at two in the afternoon and the couch at ten at night.

The hibiscus pair earns the heat honestly. Tart drinks quench better than sweet ones when you are hot, and Peach Infusion and Peaches & Kiwi both come with that snap built in, no sugar required. The honeybush works the other side of the street. If you grew up on sweet tea and you are trying to drink less sugar, Peach Apricot gives you a sweet-tasting glass without anything stirred into it.

How to Brew Each One

All three use the same amount of leaf, 1.5 teaspoons per 8 ounces of water, and then they part ways.

Peach Infusion Hibiscus Fruit Tea: full boil, 212°F, 4 to 8 minutes. The guidance on the pouch is worth repeating: too long, too tart, too short, too light.

Peaches & Kiwi Hibiscus Fruit Tea: full boil, 212°F, 4 to 8 minutes.

Peach Apricot Green Honeybush: 208°F, 5 minutes.

The difference is a four-minute window. On the two hibiscus blends, steep time is a dial you steer with your own mouth: four minutes is bright and light, eight is deep and properly tart, and you decide where in there you live. The honeybush is not a dial. It takes slightly cooler water and a flat five minutes, because the sweetness is what you are after and there is no tartness to balance out by pushing the steep.

For cold brew, Peach Infusion is one of the three blends we name in our cold brew guide. Leaf, cold water, covered jar, overnight in the fridge, strain and pour over ice. Our published ratios for cold brewing run from 2 teaspoons up to a tablespoon and a half per cup of water, so start in the middle and taste every few hours until it is where you want it.

Ready to pour one? Our caffeine free peach tea blends live with the rest of the peach teas at fusionteas.com, and August is the right month to have one of them in the fridge.
