5 Teas to Help you Study

Sometimes you just need to focus; whether it’s the mental focus for long reading sessions, cramming for an important college exam, or putting in long hours at work. You’ve already prepared your environment, removed the distractions, and mentally prepared yourself for study, but you still can’t seem to focus. You either can’t stay awake or can’t maintain your attention on the task at hand. You’ve reached for the coffee or energy drinks in the past and have regretted it because of the crash. Tea or yerba mate is the answer.

Here we have compiled a list of our favorite teas to help give you energy and help you stay focused and alert.

1. Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented, fizzy brewed tea full of vitamins, amino acids, and probiotics. It is perfect for giving you the energy-boosting vitamin B you need to stay alert, while also providing your gut with healthy probiotics. To make this healthy soda-like tea concoction at home, all you need is some amazing pure black tea, some kombucha SCOBY and a bit of time.

2. Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate is known as “the drink of the gods” in South America and for good reason. It is traditionally drunk to give you stamina and sustain a healthy life. Yerba Mate also has energy-boosting compounds like caffeine and theobromine. A cup of yerba mate can contain up to 85mg of caffeine which can boost signaling molecules in that brain that help with mental focus. It may just give you all the caffeine you need without the jittery side effects.

The greatest thing about yerba mate is that there are so many options available such as Guava Yerba Mate and Extreme Mango to name a few.

3. Matcha Green Tea

Matcha Green Tea is different than other green teas because it is green tea leaves that have been ground down to powdered form. This means that rather than simply steeping the leaves, you whisk them in with water and consume the whole leaf. By consuming the entire leaf you get all of the nutrients available including the caffeine. That means that you get more of the energy-boosting compounds than with other green teas. With Everyday Matcha you can add Matcha into baked goods or mix it into smoothies as well or for a more premium cup, you can try a Ceremonial Matcha.

4. Guayusa

Similar to Yerba Mate, Guayusa also comes from the holly plant and is grown in South America. This special species of the holly tree has been used for over a thousand years for medicinal purposes. It also contains energy-boosting compounds that help you focus and stay alert while filling your body with essential antioxidants. It has some delicious flavors like Very Berry Guayusa and Amazon Spice.

5. Black Tea

Good ole Black Tea is the astringent and deliciously brewed tea loved all over the world. It is bold and perfectly infused with so many different flavors. Black tea is full of antioxidants and is the tea with the highest caffeine content of all other teas because of how the leaves are processed. With so many varieties of black tea, you are bound to found the one you love.

While there are many different ways to get energy, tea has to be one of the healthiest options. It doesn’t give the crash that energy drinks can bring and it isn’t full of the cream and sugars usually found in barista-bought coffee drinks. So, forget the gas station run and forgo the line at the local coffee shop. Order some tea today and stay focused and alert for those long study sessions ahead.
