Stronger because of 2020: Strong Teas for a New Year

Let’s face it, 2020 was definitely not the most awesome year.  The first cases of COVID-19 were being reported as early as December 31st, 2019 which became the start of a global pandemic affecting mankind all over the world.

Families and individuals from every walk of life have felt the sting of death, illness, job loss, and loneliness with stay-at-home orders, quarantine mandates, physical distancing, total shutdowns of entire economies, and businesses closing doors.

Some have been infected with the virus and thankfully recovered, while others have either experienced additional side effects or have tragically lost their lives.  And for many, they unfortunately have had to say goodbye to loved ones through glass walls. We mourn with you.

Amid this global catastrophe, we also felt the pain of hate and racism, police brutality and political divisiveness not only within the United States but world-wide.  With all this suffering you may ask yourself how all of this can make us stronger.

A great cup of tea is created one of two ways.  It can be cold brewed by sitting in cold water for a period of 24 hours or the process can be sped up by steeping the tea in boiling hot water.

For those of us who have been blessed to have survived this year, we have been steeped in the boiling waters of 2020 and we may continue to steep throughout the next year.  Some may steep longer than others, but as we go through this inescapable process of life full of all its pain and suffering, we can emerge stronger.

Some teas, when steeped too long may become bitter, being burned by the process.  Luckily for us, we have a choice.  We can emerge from this year bitter having been burned by life, or we can see it as an opportunity to be stronger than before.

This next year may we choose to be stronger, to be a kinder, to serve others, to try harder, to give more.  Let us find the strengths to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off. Let us use our strength to lift others, to love deeper, to find commonality rather than derision, to eradicate hate and racism, to love all no matter our differences.

Let us emerge from 2020 strong and if you need a little help or energy we have created a list of some teas that can give you the inspiration and energy we all may need to be good, to do good.

Assam Black Tea – Mokalbari Estate

Assam tea is known world-wide for its bold powerhouse of flavor. The tea is grown in the Assam region of India on the Mokalbari Estate which lies along the Brahmaputra River.  This region’s wet and warm sea level climate is the biggest contributor to its distinct deep, malty flavor.

While most Assam teas are over processed by being crushed, torn or curled for tea bags, known as lower-grade CTC teas, our Assam Golden Tipped Tea remains intact providing you with a high-quality loose-leaf tea robust enough to remain full-bodied after multiple steeps. Pull some strength for 2021 from Assam Black Tea’s by putting some in your cart today.

Roasted Cocoa Yerba Mate

This full-body blend of roasted Brazilian yerba mate, cocoa nibs, rooibos & Honeybush is brimming with strong, complex flavors that is perfect for anyone looking for a healthy alternative to coffee’s deeply rich flavor.

As you waft the aromatics of the dark chocolate and sip the earthy, heartiness of this tea you may find yourself a new lifelong convert to the world of mate.

The perfect cup begins with water just below boiling, which will keep the flavor robust without turning the maté bitter.  Pick up some Roasted Cocoa Yerba Mate to be reminded that you too can have a full and rich year despite the hardships that can turn us bitter.

Extreme Mango Yerba Mate

This green yerba maté blend of tropical fruits is a juicy, tart brew that is perfect for a deliciously smooth, high-energy cup that can keep you going strong all day.

Our yerba mate is grown in the wild back country of Brazil among other plants and animals and is harvested in rotating batches every 2 years to preserve the plant’s nutritional profile.

The strong tropical flavors of mango and citrus found in this fusion of yerba mate offers a satisfying tropical experience. Try Extreme Mango Yerba Mate, it might just give you the energy and mental focus you need to power through the new year.

Pu-erh Black Tea – Organic

Pu-erh tea is a traditional Chinese post-fermented black tea which is aged to achieve a dark brown, earthy liquor.  This strong organic tea comes from the Chinese province of Yunnan and like a fine wine, this tea gets better with age.

If you’re looking for a complex, fully mature black tea without a hint of bitterness, get yourself some Pu’erh Organic. It just might inspire you to be a little wiser and more a mature you for 2021.

Everyday Matcha Green Tea Powder

Matcha is one of the most unique teas you’ll encounter. Matcha is a green tea, but in powder form which must be prepared by whisking or blending rather than simply brewing. This results in a smooth, creamy texture unlike any other. The powder also allows this tea to be easily combined with other foods or drinks like lemonade, ice cream or baked goods.

With Matcha the entire leaf is consumed rather than simply being steeped; therefore, the amount of nutrients is increased making this tea the most versatile and nutrient dense tea on the market. Introduce Everyday Matcha into your pantry this year and discover the endless possibilities of this tea.
